High School: Dearborn, A

Feerooz Yacoobi is the son of Fred and Kay Yacoobi.  He has an older sister, Liela (22), and a younger brother, Bearooz (15).  Liela recently graduated from the University of Michigan Dearborn with an engineering degree and plans to continue with her education by getting a master’s degree.  Bearooz is a freshman at Dearborn High School and looks to follow in his brother’s footsteps.

Feerooz began his football career as an eighth grader at Bryant Middle School.  Falling in love with the game, Feerooz continued on with football in his four year adventure at Dearborn High.  He was a two-year varsity player and a team captain.  Feerooz started at guard his junior year and then switched to playing defensive end and tight end for his senior season.  With an impressive senior season, Feerooz ended with 103 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 26 tackles for loss, 2 caused fumbles, a fumble recovery, a blocked punt, a blocked field goal, and a tackle for safety.  He was voted to be the team’s most outstanding athlete and made the Division 1 All-State team as well as the Michigan Dream Team.  Feerooz has been nominated by the Detroit Athletic Club to be Michigan’s High School Athlete of The Year.

Feerooz was a track and field athlete for Dearborn as well.  He was a four-year varsity letter winner, a team captain, the team’s MVP, All State as a junior, and as a State Champion in the shot put helped to identify him as an overall athlete.  Feerooz also took part in the DECA state and national tournament. He is also an avid weightlifter and spends a large amount of time training for football.

Feerooz wanted to thank his coaches, teammates, family members, and friends for "being there and supporting me through everything.  I am nothing without my teammates.  They have helped and pushed me to become not only the player that I am today but the type of person that I am as well. I love my teammates and coaches and they’re like my family. Coach Mifsud has been there for me ever since freshman year and I cannot thank him enough for all of his help."
