Mike is a 1974 graduate of Alpena High School where he played football for Glen "Dutch"
Schrotenboer who was one of the founding fathers of the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association and its second president. Mike graduated from Hope College in 1978. At Hope he was a member of the 1975 MIAA Championship football team and the 1977 MIAA Championship baseball team. He also received first team All Conference honors in baseball in 1978. Mike received his M.A. in Secondary School Administration from Central Michigan University in 1986.
    Coach Wojda began his teaching/coaching career at Hillman High in 1978. He was the head football coach for 19 years, head baseball coach for 11 years, and freshman basketball coach for three years. He was also athletic director for six years. At Hillman, Mike’s football record was 92-80-1. He won four North Star League Championships, qualified for the playoffs four times, and was selected as Regional Coach of the Year twice. He then became an assistant coach at Alpena High School and was on the staff there in 2004 when they qualified for their only playoff appearance in school history. This also allowed him to coach his son Mark during his high school career.
    Mike was first elected as a Regional Director of the MHSFCA in 1982, and became President of MHSFCA in 2004. He still serves as the Scholarship Committee Chair and is a member of the Hall of Fame Committee. Mike is currently retired from teaching and coaching.
    Mike has been married to Debbie for 30 years. They have two sons, Matt and Mark. Matt is a graduate of Adrian College, and Ave Maria Law School and Mark graduated from Albion College. "This is the greatest individual honor of my coaching career. I thank all the hard working players and coaches who dedicated their seasons to our success.  Most importantly, I thank my wife and sons for all the support they have shown over the years."
