Entering into high school he began to work hard in the off-season gaining size and strength. He was moved up to varsity his sophomore year switching from safety to linebacker. In that year he earned "Rookie of the Year". He was a three year starter defensively and started both ways his junior and senior seasons. Colin’s senior season was a break out year. He earned 1st team all state for linebacker at Division 3. He was a captain and a true leader. He went on to break two school records: A single season tackling record at 163 tackles and also career tackles at 336 tackles in three seasons. Colin gained the MVP award, and Defensive Player of the Year award. It was the second season in a row he received the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Colin also participated in baseball for three years. He took his senior season off to prepare for this game and to train for football. He hopes to walk on at Central Michigan University in the fall.

Colin said, "None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for the love and support and sacrifices my family made for me. No matter what, they always believed in me. I thank my grandfather, John Pouch, I wouldn’t be the man I am today, if it wasn’t for the life lessons that he has instilled in me while watching me grow, and helping me become an all around person. I thank our defensive coordinator and linebacker coach John Arshaumbult, with out him and the amount of time he put in, I wouldn’t be able to be playing at the level I am today. He was largely responsible for my development as a football player and he believed in me from a young age." Lastly, Colin thanked "Maximum Athletic Performance" (M.A.P.) "my trainers Jeff Cooper and Steve Morgan for all their efforts to get me ready for this game, and giving me every possible edge I can get. I am grateful for what you two have done for me in the months of preparation for the game."
