Cole is the son of Paul and Monica Walderzak. He has an older sister, Ellen, who is pursuing a career of being a probation officer. He also has a younger brother, Clay, who is going into his sophomore year at SSC.

 

Cole started his football career in seventh grade playing for the Standish-Sterling Middle School. He played both tight end and defensive end until his sophomore year. He played on the varsity as a starter at split end as a sophomore. He played offense his sophomore and most of his junior year. He started playing a little more defense during his junior year and played both ways during his senior season. Cole was also part of the special teams all four years.

Along with being a three-year starter for football, Cole also played four years of varsity basketball. He started three years and was a co-captain as a junior and senior. In  track he was a four year participant in the discus, shot put, and high jump. He was also a three year member of National Honor Society and Student Council. He volunteered a lot of his time with youth basketball and other sport clinics organized through the school. Cole will continue his education at Central Michigan University where he will train to be a physicians’ assistant. Cole will also be a member of the Chippewa Track and Field team.

Cole said, "I would like to thank my friends and family for all of the support during my high school career in sports. A special thanks goes to my grandparents Arthur and Judy Raymond for not missing a game or meet no matter how far away it was, my mother and uncle Ryan for the constant reminders of what I am and what I could be, Clay and Ellen for keeping me in shape with all of the foot races to anywhere we were going, to my teammates and coaches for all of the knowledge you have passed to me. It has been an amazing four years. Finally, I thank my dad for pushing me farther than I thought I could go and for teaching my how to ‘flip the switch’."
