Jeff is a 1971 graduate of Muskegon High School. He attended Hope College and played defensive end and guard and earned a degree in political science. Jeff holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Central Michigan University.
    Coach Stewart has taught for thirty-three years at Big Rapids High School. He is currently employed as a social studies teacher. After graduating from Hope, Jeff took a position as an assistant football coach at Big Rapids. In 1980, he became the head football coach. In thirteen years, he compiled a 78-40 record and won three conference titles. He coached a 9-0 team in 1982. He was honored as a Regional Class B Coach of the Year in 1982. Coach Stewart was diagnosed with leukemia in 1992. Later that year he suffered a stroke. He then served as an assistant in Newaygo for one year and as an assistant at Reed City for twelve years. He was honored as an Assistant Coach of the year in 1995. In 2009, he will be teaching and coaching at Big Rapids again. Jeff also coached boy’s tennis for ten years. Coach Stewart has been electedas a Regional director of the MHSFCA five times. Stewart was inducted into the MHSFCA Hall of Fame in 2004.
    Jeff has been married to Anne for thirty-three years. Jeff said, "She is the best filmer in the state and has been a tremendous asset. Without her support, coaching wouldn’t be possible." The Stewarts have three children: Edward, Joanne and Brian. He said, "I am honored to be selected by my peers to coach in the All Star Game. I love teaching and coaching. I get to work with kids every day and in the fall, on Friday night there is no place I’d rather be than coaching football."
