2012 East #66

Kellen Sorenson

Offensive Guard

6’5" 315

High School Coach: Adam Barber

High School, Class: Carleton Airport, B

College: Siena Heights University

Kellen is the son of Debby and the late Joe Sorenson of South Rockwood.  He has two older sisters Zusha (24) and Kayla (22).  He also has a younger brother Keegan (14).  His number one fan is his mom, but his number two fan would be his pops, Larry Paquette.

Kellen has been "off the charts for height and weight" since birth and was too big to play junior football so his first experience on the field was in the seventh grade.  He was known as the gentle giant and it took the coaches a while to bring out the aggressiveness.  He is still a gentle giant off the field, but "game on" as soon as he steps on the grid iron.  He was a two year starter on varsity.  He primarily played offense, but he did play both sides of the ball.  He played the line on both sides.  His senior year his team went undefeated in the league.  His team running back, Caleb Schumake, was named All Region Offensive Player of the year and said his favorite play was running to the left behind Kellen because that was how he gained a lot of his yardage.  Kellen was often chosen as team captain because he had a way of getting the team hyped up and ready to play.

In addition to playing football, Kellen has been on the track team for four years.  He received his varsity letter in track his freshman year.  He throws both the shot put and the discus and plans to dual sport in college as well.  Kellen was elected the Homecoming Junior Representative his junior year and was on the Homecoming Court his senior year.

Kellen thanked his family for all of their support and encouragement throughout the years.  He gave a special thanks to his mom and grandpa for being at every game rain or shine, win or lose.

Kellen also thanked all of his coaches for "making me the player I am today, especially Coach Barber, Coach Grant, Coach Pinter, Coach Stasa and Coach Schley.  They always pushed me to be the best that I could be.  There were days I hated them for it, but without them I would not be playing in the All Star game today."  Finally, Kellen thanked all of his teammates,  "They provided me with some of the best memories of my life."
