As a sophomore Gary started on the St. Mary’s Prep football team as a corner back and ended the year with four interceptions. That year the team went all the way to the State Championship. As a junior Gary had five interceptions. His senior year, he had five interceptions with over 2,000 all purpose yards, had seven touchdowns and returned kicks and punts. As a senior he was first team All State as a corner. Gary was also an All Area, and an All Catholic selection.


Gary also played varsity basketball three years and earned All Catholic. He ran track for four years and made it to states his junior year in the 100 meter dash.


Gary thanked his dad for, "Everything that he has done for me. I would not have been as good as I am without my father Derrick." Gary gave a special thanks to his coach, George Porritt, "for making me a better player, and putting me in the right spots at the right time." He also thanked his position coach, Jeffery Phillips, "Coach Phillips taught me everything I needed to know about playing corner back. Without Coach Phillips my DB skills would not be as good as they are now." Gary will continue his football career at the University of Dayton.
