In his freshmen year, Jamal was introduced to Fordson Football and the hard work started there. The Program in Fordson Football was all about hard work and dedication. The weightroom became Jamal’s new home and he learned the value of hard work. Jamal’s hard work and dedicatation paid off when he became a two-year starter and a Captain his senior year for the Tractors. Jamal was part of the hardest working unit, the offensive line. He started on the offensive line his junior year and assisted the team to a playoff berth and a District Championship. Jamal was the Tractors’ most consistent offensive lineman who showed his versatility his senior year, seeing action at center, guard and tackle. He also took over as starter on the defensive line switching to tackle and nose guard throughout the game. He had over six sacks and numerous tackles on defense his senior year. Jamal was selected in the Dearborn Press and Guide All City team, and his team voted him the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman and was selected for the George B. Lewis Award.

Jamal’s, "number one thanks would be God who let me have the ability and health to play football." Jamal thanked his parents for their love and support and gave a special thanks to his brothers, Hussein and Mohamed, "for sticking with me all these years and for attending every single game, rain or shine, even when it got rough." Jamal also thanked his uncles and cousins for all their support and attendance at all his games. He especially thanked Coach Stergalas and his staff for teaching him, "if you put hard work into something, there will always be a positive result." Finally, "I would like to thank Fordson Football for building our character and mental toughness."
