2011 Assistant Coach Brad Grayvold

Norway High School

Brad graduated from Wakefield High School in 1984 where he played football, basketball, track, tennis, and baseball for the Cardinals.  He was an all conference and all Upper-Peninsula selection in football.  He attended NMU and played football for the Wildcats from 1984-1988 earning all conference honors as a defensive back.  He graduated with a BS and a Master’s degree.

Brad worked at Northern Michigan University in 1989 as a graduate assistant coach.  He landed his first teaching position at Luther L. Wright HS in Ironwood where he coached the JV team to the conference championship.  From 1991-1996 he was a teacher and the head football coach at Marquette HS.  While there, he was instrumental in bringing organized youth football to various communities in the Upper Peninsula. He then moved to Kingsford HS from 1997-99.  In 1999 he accepted a teaching position and the head football coaching job at Norway HS.  Since arriving at Norway, Brad and his coaching staff have won three conference titles and have qualified for the playoffs nine times. The 2002 and 2006 teams reached the state semi-finals.  He has received Regional Coach of the Year coaching honors and his teams have been recognized for academic honors for the past ten consecutive years.  Brad served as President of the MHSFCA in 2009.

Brad and his wife Dana have been married for 22 years and have three children:  Brady, (20) a student and football player at NMU; Bailey, (16) a Norway High School student; and Britta, (12) at Norway-Vulcan MS.  Brad said, "I am very excited to coach in the all star game. I am honored to represent the MHSFCA, Norway HS, and our community.  It will be a great experience to work with the athletes and coaches."
