High School Coach: Jim Sparks

High School: Clawson, B

College: Undecided

Cody is the son of Bert and Debbie Gorman. He has a younger brother Steven and a sister Jenna.

Cody started playing football for the Clawson Mavericks when he was seven years old. His father was an assistant coach for him during his Mavericks career. Cody had to skip two years of freshman football for the Mavericks because he couldn’t make the weight limit. His father recalled being asked to present Cody’s birth certificate because of his size for his first year of Maverick football. After Cody was named All State Division 5 and All Metro North, coach Sparks said, "Cody was a three-year starter on offense and defense. During that span, the team threw the ball more than 600 times, and Cody gave up just one sack." Sparks also said, "Cody is the most versatile lineman I’ve ever had. He can pass protect and run block. There are not too many kids you can put in a spot and not worry about for three years."

Cody was also part of Clawson’s track and field team, participating in the shot put and discus throw.

Cody thanked his parents and friends for "showing the utmost support for me." Cody recalled a time when he wasn’t sure if he wanted to play football anymore and his mother and father helped him. He said, "I am very thankful for that." Cody also thanked "all of my coaches my entire football career. He gave special thanks to Coach Jim Sparks, Coach Steve Haney, Coach Ralph Haney, and (his uncle) Coach Gary Gorman.
