Nate is the son of John and Ann Cole. John is an elementary school teacher at Beaumont Elementary in Waterford. Ann is a middle school teacher at Derby Middle School in Birmingham. Nate has a sister, Megan Cole, who attends the University of Michigan.

 

Besides playing football at recess in elementary school, Nate played flag football until his seventh grade year. At East Hills Middle School, Nate started at cornerback on the eighth grade team as a seventh grader. He played his first varsity game his freshman year during the Knights’ Semi-Final run. Nate lettered his sophomore year in football. As a senior, after two losing seasons, Nate and his team qualified for playoffs where they lost the first game to Redford Thurston. Nate was named a captain his senior year for the varsity football team.

 

Nate played basketball his freshman, sophomore, and senior years. He was a two-year varsity letterman in track and ran indoor track his junior year. Nate was part of "Be The Change" Club at his school and "hopes to make a difference in the world one day at a time." Nate also participated in the spring play his senior year. Named the homecoming king his senior year, he was the prince his freshman and sophomore years. Nate did community service with a program called RAD, which works with kids K-8 on art projects.

 

Nate thanked his family for "supporting all the decisions I have made regarding football and the whole Lahser staff for helping me build the character I have today." He also thanked Coach Blackwell and all of the MaxEx coaches for letting him travel with them to "all the different places for football." He thanked his friends for "all of the laughs they share." Finally he thanked Coach Reginald Wynns "for everything. Words cannot describe the impact you have made on my life. Like you say, all this hard work will pay off one day."
