Luplow graduated from Clare HS in 1973, where he earned four varsity letters in basketball and baseball and 3 letters in football. He then graduated from Central Michigan University with degrees in Physical Education, Recreation and Parks Administration, and Health Education. He was hired as Athletic Director at Clare HS in 1988 and administered the sports program for 12 years. He currently teaches Health /Physical Education and Strength and Conditioning at Clare. He has coached baseball, track, and football at Clare. This is his 26th year coaching football and he will begin his 21st year as head coach of the Pioneers this fall. His overall record is 135 and 62 and Jackpine Conference record is 108 and 32. His teams have won 8 conference championships including five consecutive titles from 2000 and 2004. In addition, the Pioneers have made the playoffs 10 years under his guidance. They have won two District titles and one Regional title while reaching the semifinals in 2000. He has received 3 MHSFCA Regional Coach of the Year awards and has been named conference coach of the year 7 times.


Coach Luplow credits his success to the support of his family and the hard work of his assistant coaches. His family consists of wife, Christine, and their 13 year old triplets, Reyna, Brent, and Jillian. "My family has made many sacrifices over the years so that I could coach and they have been my inspiration to continue in this very rewarding profession."

He also recognized his mother (Nina Lou), father (Bud), sister (Sue), and brother (Steve) for their continuous support over the years. He credited his assistant coaches for their dedication and commitment to the Clare program. "Doug Haggart, Dan Haggart, Steve Laverty, Pete Eberhart, Rob Wise, Bob Krainik, trainer Kap Paesens along with many other volunteers over the years am the reason l am coaching in this game this year."
