Assistant Coach Donshell English
Detroit Southeastern High School

Donshell English lives in Westland with Pamela, his wife of 13 years, and two children, Kaylen and Kendall. He was an All State athlete, graduating from Cass Technical High School in 1986. Donshell attended Eastern Michigan University, where he was instrumental in helping the team win the MAC Conference Championship and the California Bowl in 1987. He played defensive end and served as team captain for three years, from 1988-1990. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications, and earned a Master of Arts degree in communications in 2002. He is currently pursuing teacher certification and a second Masters degree in Education at Wayne State University.

Donshell has been teaching math for the past five years at Southeastern in Detroit. In 2004, after two years of developing a solid football program, the team won its first PSL Division IV Championship and was runner-up for the City Championship played at Ford Field. Again in 2005, the team won its division and went to the city playoffs. The team also made the state playoffs. This was the first time in Southeastern history that the football team made the city playoffs two seasons straight, and reached the state playoffs.

Coaching is a big part of Donshell’s life. He is dedicated to his players, working with them during and after school, and many weekends, to instill a strong work ethic and high level of commitment. He works closely with his coaching staff, spending many hours of planning to develop a focused and hard-working team. In 2005, the Detroit Lions honored him with the "Coach of the Week" award, presented to him at Ford Field.
He reflected on coaching for the All-Star Game, saying, "I am very thankful for the opportunity to work with the top coaches and players in the state, and consider it an honor to be named among them."
