Assistant Coach Chris Bell
Lake Orion High School

A graduate of Lake Orion HS, Chris quarterbacked the Dragons to two league titles in ‘84 and ‘85. He then earned a BA in Economics and Management and a secondary education certificate to teach social studies from Albion College. At Albion, Chris earned his letter as a back-up quarterback for the Britons. He also served as a student assistant coach for two seasons. Chris has Masters from the University of Detroit Mercy in Educational Administration and currently works as an Assistant Principal at Lake Orion High School.


    Chris began his high school coaching career as an assistant for his former coach and mentor Doug Fraser at Birmingham Seaholm. He then spent two seasons as the head coach at Linden and two seasons as the head coach at Center Line St. Clement. Chris returned to Lake Orion for three seasons as an assistant coach and the offensive coordinator. He was named the Head Coach of the Dragons before the 1998 season and has spent the last 10 years as the Dragons Head Coach. He has become the winningest coach in Dragon Football. In 14 years, Chris’s teams have won 4 league championships, qualified for the state playoffs 11 times and reached the state semi-finals 3 times. He has been named MHSFCA regional coach of the year in 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006. He was also honored as the Detroit Free Press Metro Coach of the Year in 1998 and the Detroit News Metro North Coach of the Year in 2005.


    With Chris every step of the way has been his wife Christy (13 years). They have been blessed with five children, Kyle (12), Kaitlyn (10), Jamie (8), Lauren (7), and Sydney (2). He said, "I am truly honored to have been selected to coach in this game and I thank the MHSFCA for this opportunity. At Lake Orion I have been blessed with great players to coach, an outstanding coaching staff, support from our school and administration and an incredible community in Lake Orion. It is with great pride that I represent Lake Orion and I am thrilled to have one of my players on the team to share this experience."
